The Göztepe Football Academy U14 team took part in a meaningful initiative that brought the topic of anti-racism into an experiential learning environment. Rather than addressing the issue through traditional instruction, the workshop was designed as an interactive process where young players could engage, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of the subject.

The session was led by experienced trainer Necdet Erdeniz and built around the method of creative drama, allowing participants to actively take part in the learning process. Through role-playing and guided exercises, players were encouraged to step into different perspectives, fostering empathy and a stronger awareness of diversity and equality.

This approach enabled the participants not only to understand the concept of discrimination, but also to question it, experience it, and respond to it in a safe and constructive environment. The workshop created space for dialogue, reflection, and personal insight—key elements in building long-term awareness.

At Göztepe Football Academy, player development extends beyond technical and physical training. Social, cultural, and human values are considered an essential part of the educational journey. This workshop stands as a strong example of how sport can be used as a platform to address critical social issues and contribute to the development of more conscious individuals.

Organized under the name “Shared Game”, the event went beyond a traditional match, bringing together athletes with different experiences in a shared space of connection, learning, and mutual understanding. In the first part of the program, players from both teams gathered off the field, engaged in conversation, shared their experiences, and had the opportunity to get to know each other on a personal level. This interaction laid the foundation for a strong connection even before stepping onto the pitch.

This pre-match exchange emphasized that sport is not only about physical performance, but also about empathy, awareness, and mutual respect. The genuine interaction between the players became one of the defining elements of the event.

As the players took to the field, the friendly match reflected the true spirit of football. Throughout the game, values such as fair play, solidarity, and respect stood out beyond competition. The experience of Göztepe U17 players and amputee footballers sharing the same field powerfully demonstrated the inclusive and barrier-free nature of sport.

The atmosphere during the match was not only meaningful for the players, but also deeply inspiring for everyone present. Seeing athletes with different physical conditions come together around a common goal highlighted the ability of sport to transcend limitations and create shared meaning.

This special gathering once again showed that football is not merely a competitive activity, but also a powerful platform that fosters social awareness, brings people together, and inspires new perspectives.

The session was delivered by Dr. Can Akdenizli, bringing together participants from Göztepe Football Academy U12 team. The seminar was designed to raise awareness among young participants about one of today’s most critical challenges: technology addiction.

The program primarily focused on screen addiction, addressing how excessive and uncontrolled use of digital devices can impact children’s physical, cognitive, and social development. Through relatable and up-to-date examples, participants were able to better understand how technology use can gradually turn into dependency.

In addition to screen addiction, the seminar also explored different types of addiction, helping children approach the topic from a broader and more informed perspective. The interactive structure of the session encouraged active participation, allowing children to engage with the content rather than passively consume it.

This initiative played an important role in helping young participants develop a healthier relationship with technology, recognize their own habits, and make more conscious decisions in their daily lives.

At SEGAD, we will continue to produce educational programs that support not only the physical but also the mental and social development of children, and to carry out awareness campaigns in collaboration with various stakeholders.

The event welcomed a total of 42 children, including participants from Göztepe Sailing Club and Göztepe Football Academy U12. Bringing together children from different sports backgrounds created a strong atmosphere of unity, collaboration, and shared purpose throughout the day. The program was conducted under the guidance of 8 trainers, ensuring a structured, safe, and highly engaging learning environment.

The day began with an educational session focused on marine conservation, ecosystem balance, and environmental sustainability. Children were introduced to the causes and consequences of sea pollution, as well as the role individuals can play in protecting natural ecosystems. This session helped participants develop a deeper awareness and provided a strong conceptual foundation for the hands-on activities that followed.

Following the training, children participated in a group pilates session, designed to increase body awareness and provide a balanced transition into the day’s physical activities. This short yet effective session contributed to both physical and mental readiness, supporting the overall flow of the program.

The program then moved into action as participants took part in a coastal cleanup activity, putting their knowledge into practice. During the cleanup, children were able to directly observe environmental challenges and understand the tangible impact of their actions. This hands-on experience became one of the most powerful moments of the day, reinforcing their sense of responsibility towards the environment and encouraging active participation.

In the final part of the event, children were introduced to an essential aspect of maritime culture by learning how to tie a basic sailing knot. This activity not only provided a practical skill but also created a connection with the cultural and traditional elements of life at sea.

Overall, the event stood out as a strong example of a holistic approach that brings together sport, education, and environmental awareness. It contributed to both the personal development of the participants and their growth as conscious and responsible members of society.
